Neglected blog, reason why
Well, I could give lots of reasons. Tons. Like the four children who sometimes, on occasion, need my attention. The baby who is teething without ever getting ANY TEETH. Besides the six she already has and is biting me with every time I try to check if she's got anymore... not the best idea I've ever had. Or the stress of trying to sell a house nobody seems to want. Or the gorgeous weather which drove me outside despite my best intentions to stay chained to my computer. Or the fact that of all the things on my to-do list, I am always strangely reluctant to update my blog. Some authors are really gifted at blogs, at the whole bloggy-blog type of writing. You know, chatty, friendly, pull up a chair kind of writing. I don't think I'm that successful, but I try. Or will try. When I start updating my blog a bit more regularly. In the meantime... news! I just had the cyber stamp of approval on my 14th book, which is titled Bound To The Greek and will be out in the UK in January 2011. Meanwhile I'm hard at work (really!) on my 15th book, which is part of a new continuity called The Notorious Wolfes. My hero is the oldest brother and he is what is known as an old soul. I'm working steadily through the rough draft, but I know it's going to need a lot of clean up. Usually I stop in the middle and clean up the beginning, but this time round I'm trying something new. It's full steam ahead, all the way to the end if I can, before I start reworking everything. Why am I doing this? Because I am finding that writing the new stuff is helping me understand what I need to change about the old stuff. I confess, I didn't have a complete grip on my characters before I started, but I'm learning about them as I go and that really helps. Of course, rewriting tends not to be as enjoyable as writing the first time round, but it possesses its own satisfactions when you get it right.
I also have some upcoming projects I'm excited about, including a short story that will come out in the US under the titillating title 'Blackmail Babies'. And that's all I have to go with, so already my mind is mulling over possibilities of plots involving--yes, you guessed it--blackmail and... babies!! Or at least one baby. I'm not sure about twins at this point...
Last bit of news: I'm offering a three month writing mentorship again at Brenda Novak's wonderful auction for diabetes research. This is especially relevant to me because my dear niece Jessica was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes this winter, when she was 14. She's amazing at adjusting her lifestyle and diet to the disease, but it makes getting the funding for research all the more important in my mind. So do stop by to check out my offerings, as well as the many, many amazing things--books, jewelry, writing critiques, chocolate, perfumes, TRIPS--that you can bid on. In addition to the mentorship I am offering my complete autographed backlist--so get over there now ;)
