Losing perspective
I've been working on relatively substantial revisions for the last week, and I have no idea if anything works or not, if the book makes sense--if the characters seem real. That happens after awhile, and if I had time I'd shelve it and work on something else, but alas, I don't have time. It needs to be sent in and I need to be working on the next thing. However, I'm quite confident my editor will tell me if it isn't working!
It's hard to believe we've been in the city for nearly a month now. There are days when I feel like our old life is no more than a distant dream, and other days when I look around in confusion at our apartment and think 'but when are we going home?' Strange.
We started at our new church today, which was a big help in feeling settled, and someone even invited us over for Labor Day Monday, which was nice. And my oldest daughter is already at her first sleepover, which is making me a little nervous. But overall? It's going well, which is a great blessing. Now I'm just ready for some cooler weather!

Hello from holidays
We're in Canada right now, enjoying a respite from urban living! Sorry for the silence... we've been here and there and everywhere, but in the meantime I have a few bits of good news to share: first, The Italian's Bought Bride has an official US release date of February 2009. Second, I heard back from my editor on book 7, the sheikh book whose writing process I'd been detailing on this blog. It needs some revision but not an overwhelming amount, which is always good news. So lots to due before this baby arrives in mid-October: revisions on book 7, a novella, and another book (ideally, annyway--do you think it will happen?)
Meanwhile though I'm enjoying watching the Olympics... did anyone else's heart break for Alicia Sacramone? Tonight is the women's all around individual finals which is my favorite event to watch. As for Michael Phelps... it was thrilling at first, now it's just old hat :)

Feeling a bit more settled
We're nearly all unpacked, there are even a few pictures on the walls, and I also managed to write 3,000 words this last week! Tomorrow we're off for vacation for a week, and then after that it's nose to the grindstone (or keyboard) as I want to finish this novella by September 1. I'm enjoying writing a spunkier heroine, and the setting of the Italian Lakes is gorgeous--especially as I hear the traffic rumble outside!
Thank you to those who bought Ruthless Boss, Hired Wife and helped boost it into Waldenbooks Top 10 Bestseller List! That is always a thrill :) I don't know yet when my next US release is, although The Italian's Bought Bride is available in the UK now. I'll keep you posted...
And I *will* update my website one of these days, with a new short story and newsletter, as well as details on my last two books, The Sheikh's Forbidden Virgin and The Sheikh's Love-Child.
